About CBD

CBD is an acronym (abbreviation) for a cannabinoid called cannabidiol. Cannabinoids are the name given to a group of chemical compounds that interact with our bodies’ in-built endocannabinoid systems, initiating a wide range of therapeutic responses.

Clinical studies & research repeatedly demonstrate cannabinoids to have beneficial effects on a multitude of medical conditions including: anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, pain perception, inflammation, cancer, Parkinson’s, eczema, psoriasis, arthritis, insomnia, nausea… the list appears to be endless and ever-growing.

Yes. CBD oil and other cannabinoids are legal in most areas of the world. It is only products containing THC that have been classified as an illicit substance supposedly due to the psychoactive effects this compound can deliver.
Just a cursory glance into history quickly reveals a propaganda war was waged to turn public opinion against a plant central to many industries & economies for millennia, and used by doctors as a medicine up until just 40 years ago. A war waged by large corporate interests who’s profits were clearly threatened by its diverse range of applications and low production costs.

At the time of writing CBD rich oil can be legally delivered to any of the following countries: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guam, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, Northern Ireland, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S. Virgin Islands, Uruguay

At NuLife we believe, and are supported by science that cannabis should be delivered in its full form and we are actively engaged in spreading awareness of cannabis and in supporting the groups and movements fighting for decriminalisation of this precious and non-toxic plant – please join us in supporting them.

No – It is the compound THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) in cannabis that is responsible for marijuana’s famous ‘high’.
Our CBD oil is derived from legal and fully licensed, organically grown European hemp which contains less than 0.3% THC, thereby making it legal and non-psychoactive.

A few other cannabinoids (CB’s) found in CBD oil, including CBD can have mildly sedating and relaxing effects at high doses, and have been regularly reported as helping to ease depression, anxiety and PTSD, but as a food supplement it is unlikely you will experience any noticeable psychoactive effects except a possible feeling of increased well-being.

As always we recommend starting on a low dose to see how you react and then gradually increase, waiting a few days in between before increasing dose, until desired results are noticed.

Please refer to our dosage guide here for more in-depth guidelines but in short the answer is – start small and gradually increase.
Everyone will respond differently to cannabinoid supplements, your weight, general health, previous relationship with cannabis and the current condition of your endocannabinoid system (ECS) all play a big role in how you will respond.

CBD is well recognised as being non-toxic, and to date is responsible for zero known fatalities. This .gov study confirms the “favorable safety profile” of CBD in humans. Clinical trials show that even high doses of above 600 mg are tolerated well by the majority of people with no long-term side effects, and as our products are THC free you can feel assured you will not have any unwanted psychoactive effects from taking too larger dose.

However big is rarely better, studies consistently show that our ECS’s respond better to slow and steady administration, and due to CBD biphasic nature smaller doses may actually work better than larger doses in some cases.

We recommend starting with a low daily dose of approx. 10mg-60mg per day. Administer this dose in 2 or more servings throughout the day, as studies show little and often to be preferable. Wait at this level for 3 or more days, if desired results are not felt increase by 5mg-20mg and observe.
Repeat this process until desired results are noticed.

We are not qualified to give medical opinion and do not suggest our products will treat or prevent any particular condition.  CBD can interact with some medications so consult with a medical expert with experience in CBD therapies if you are currently on any medication.

CBD is universally regarded as safe to use even when taken along with other meds, but due to CBD’s ability to inhibit the activity of cytochrome P450, a family of liver enzymes responsible for metabolizing up to 60% of marketed medicines, special attention must be paid for those already taking certain medications.
Some studies have shown that in high enough doses, CBD can inhibit or deactivate these P450 liver enzymes that are important for the efficient metabolization (breakdown) of prescription medications. This can potentially lead to an increase in processing times of certain drugs which can lead to higher levels of these drugs remaining in the body at one time.

This accumulation of un-metabolised drugs can potentially be dangerous so if you are on medications for: Cholesterol; Blood pressure; Epilepsy and seizures; Antipsychotic medications for schizophrenia, bipolar, autism; gastrointestinal reflux and peptic ulcers medications; or if you are on chemotherapy then it is incredibly important to discuss your prescription with a medical expert that understands CBD therapies as special attention needs to be paid to your dosage. Being on these medications does not mean you cannot take CBD, there are many suffering with these conditions enjoying the relief cannabinoids can offer but they do so with the guidance of a professional.

If taken sublingually or by inhalation CBD enters your blood stream immediately so relief may be felt in minutes, oral ingestion can take up to 30mins. As NuCanna CBD oil contains no THC, you won’t experience any noticeable psychoactive effects but you may feel a sense of calm or a reductions of negative symptoms that clinical studies have shown cannabinoid supplementation to be effective in treating.

There is no way of predicting how you or any condition you are experiencing will react to CB supplementation. What we can say is that extensive research shows that an underactive endocannabinoid system (ECS) is linked to a multitude of conditions and that supplementing that system has been shown to be effective in the alleviation of some symptoms for some people. CB supplementation is not a one size fits all as many variables to be taken into consideration – read here for more on your endocannabinoid system.

Supercritical CO2 extraction (a type of SFE – supercritical fluid extraction) is an innovative technology referred to as “green chemistry”, as it allows for extraction without the use of any potentially harmful chemicals. The unique parameters of the supercritical state (so-called “fourth physical state”) make it possible to extract the desired ingredients only. Unlike other, simpler techniques supercritical CO2 extraction guarantees that the final product is absolutely pure and safe.
Our oil suppliers have designed supercritical CO2 extraction equipment dedicated specifically for hemp.

It is painfully clear that this is just the tip of the iceberg in understanding the magnitude, importance and intricate nature of the bodies endocannabinoid system. Evidence and research clearly supports the hypothesis that a healthy ECS can help ease, and in many cases, cure numerous common medical conditions.

We currently do not have a pharmaceutical medication that directly addresses imbalances within the ECS but the phytocannabinoids found in cannabis are non-toxic and are seen to directly interact and help rebalance this essential in-built defence system.

So much more research is desperately needed, and thankfully as cannabis laws soften, greater study can begin in earnest of what cannabis and her wealth of cannabinoids and other beneficial compounds can offer us in the fight against disease.
